Benjamin Re-elected SWAN President As Nyong, Asika Return
Isaiah Benjamin has been re-election as the National President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for the second and final term.
Benjamin was returned unopposed at the triennial delegate conference held in Kaduna on Aug. 28.
Bonny Nyong was re-elected as Deputy National President after a keen contest with Chigozie Chukwuleta who polled 14 votes against his 21.
Samuel Gangwaja scored four votes to defeat incumbent Ahmed Amshi who secured just to become the Vice President of North East Zone.
Other officers who were returned unopposed were Ikenna Okonkwo(Secretary General), Olufemi Amusan(Treasurer), Ijeoma Nwante (Financial Secretary), Ikemefuna Asika (VP South East), Zaharadeen Saleh(VP North West), Azuka Chiemeka (VP South South) and Ayodeji Ogunsakin( South West).
The newly elected officers will serve for a term of three years.
The triennial election was preceded by a Full Council meeting and lectures.
In his acceptance speech, Benjamin appreciated the delegates for renewing their confidence in him while assuring that he would work harder for the good of her association.
