Bridgehead Mkt Emerge Winners Of Football Event Of Anambra Traders Competition
The Bridgehead Market, Onitsha has win the football event of the second Anambra Traders Sports Competition.
Bridgehead boys defeated Oraeri Market, Oraeri by 4-0 in the game decided at the Awka Township Stadium to emerge champions of the football event.
The competition was organised by Anambra State Sports Development Commission and Anambra State Amalgamated Market Traders Association(ASMATA) started on Oct. 25 with 118 markets competing in five sporting events including Football, Tennis, Table Tennis, Draught and Ncho.
In the third place match decided earlier, Building Materials Market, Ogbunike piped Nnobi Amalgamated Traders Association football team 1-0 to finish third and pick up the bronze medals
The first, second and third place winners got prize money of N6 Million, N3 million and N1.5 million for their efforts courtesy of Gov. Chukwuma Soludo.
In other events, Ozoagu Valentine of Eke Oyibo market, Amawbia won gold in draught beating Okechukwu Okolo of Nkwo Umunze market, Umunze and Ugochukwu Nwanede of Bida market Onitsha to second and third places.
In Tennis, Emeka Emewulu of Bridge head market, Onitsha won gold while
Fidelis Anierobi of Agbaedo Motor Parts Nnewi and Albert Anele of Odera Mkt, Awka got silver and bronze for their efforts.
Akabuike Chigozie won gold for for Bida market Onitsha in table tennis ahead of Ahanonu Ononuju of Agbaedo Motor Parts Nnewi and Chigozie Nwafor who represented Motor Tyre/Tube Dealers market Nkpor who finessed second and third.
Lastly, in Ncho, Emeka Okoye of Eke Oyibo market, Amawbia finished top with a gold medal ahead of Nwacha Chinwe Aluminum market, Onitsha and Esther Nzeka of Nkwo Umunze market Umunze who won silver and bronze.
Gov. Chukwuma Soludo, represented by is Chief of Staff Earnest Ezeajughi handed the cup to winners of the football event and declared the Competition closed.
Other dignitaries at the ceremony were Patrick-Estate Onyedum, Chairman of ASSDC, Evarist Ubah, SPAD on Markets, Izuchukwu Okafor, Commissioner for Finance.
