COREN To Provide Professional Assistance To Oko Poly On Engineering
Council for the Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria (COREN) says it is willing to provide professional support to Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra in the field of Engineering.
Mr Victor Meju, Chairman of COREN in Anambra said this when he led a team of engineering professionals to the institution.
Meju stated that the idea was to ensure that trainee engineers were equipped with the requisite theoretical and practical knowledge before graduation.
He said COREN would also partner with the Institution in other areas of human capital management.
“The collaboration will help engineering students of the Institution train practically with respect to their discipline.
On her part, Dr Francisca Nwafulugo, the rector of the institution expressed gratitude with the proposal, noting that the partnership, if fully agreed, will also assist lecturers in the Engineering Department to acquire more Industrial and practical experience of the profession.
Nwafulugo said the technical assistance needed was in the area of practical training, exchange of knowledge and imparting of skills to engineering students of the institution.
She said that COREN and the Federal Polytechnic Oko, under her leadership, would work to achieve a common goal in the future interest of Nigerian Engineering students.
According to the Rector, the Federal Polytechnic Oko will partner with COREN in training engineering lecturers and students in the various technical departments of recognized companies in Nigeria.
“As I speak, our engineering students are having their one-year mandatory Industrial Training, in banks, hospitals and in classroom teaching, which is no mean to be.
“So I am appealing to you, on behalf of the Polytechnic management, to help us as a regulatory engineering body in Nigeria, to get good Industrial companies or construction sites to enable our engineering students have practical knowledge of the profession.
“I want to assure you that we are going to collaborate and partner with you to achieve all your mandate, whatever it would take for COREN to excel and have a positive impact on society, she said.
