Dubem Awachie’s ‘New Dawn’ vision For Greater Anambra NMA
As the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) the body of medical doctors in Anambra elects its new leadership today, July 20 at the ongoing AGM in Onitsha, Dr Dubem Awachie, one of the candidates for the chairmanship position has unveiled his programme.
Awachie, a multiple award winner and student of servant leader philosophy in his manifesto christened “The GREAT Agenda” said he would ensure every hand and ideas were brought on board for achieving common goals.
He promised to engender inclusivity in regular meetings which would include hybrid meetings: for convenient participation.
According to his manifesto , there shall be prompt information dissemination through prompt release of Communique, Newsletters, active/interactive Websites and Social Media handles, this will bridge the information gap to eliminate misinformation.
“My team will ensure every cadre of Doctors is carried along through tailored programmes for the young and the old.
“We shall introduce Town Hall meetings as a veritable tool for directly palpating the pulses of members, in a less-rigid setting
“We shall continue the struggle for State-employed doctors’ 2024 Revised CONMESS, improved Hazard Allowance, MRTF for residents and push for Payment of Accoutrement Allowance with it’s arrears by CMD/MDs of Federal Tertiary Health Institutions (FTHIs),” he said.
Dubem promised to support the demand for payment of arrears of 2024 Revised CONMESS, convene a round-table discussion with Private Practitioners for salary of Medical Officers and Seek legislation to protect hospitals while recouping medical bills for services rendered.

“We shall fight violence against doctors: through public enlightenment and advocacy and Groom medical students’ leaders (NAUMSA, COOUMSA, NiMSA) into NMA SEC (as obtainable at National level- NEC)
“Support Anti Quackery Drive of State Ministry of Health in collaboration with Law Enforcement Agencies, backed by enabling laws,” he said.
THE MAN AWACHIE
Awachie is an all round experienced and accomplished leader is a graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka (2003-2010) with secondary and primary education from University of Nigeria Secondary School Enugu Campus and
Ekulu Primary School Enugu and Command Children School Enugu respectively .
He has won many academic awards including MacMillan Publishers Igbo Scholar, Enugu Competition 2001, Best Student in Igbo, Geography and Physics in 2002 and Best Graduating Student, UNSSEC Class of 2002.
Awachie also won Shell Scholarship Award (Undergraduate), Mobil Scholarship Award (Undergraduate) and top 30 Medical Students in 2009 for 2006 Clinical Intake set as well as NAU part-sponsored Clinical Rotation at New York Methodist Hospital, New York, USA 2009.
Awachie had held numerous leadership positions at the undergraduate and .NYSC levels.
Awachie is undoubtedly the most experienced of the chairmanship candidate having served as Member, NMA National Committee on House Officers, General Secretary, ARD NAUTH, member, NARD Legal/ Legislative Committee 2016/2017.
