FG Delivers Consignment Of Liquid Fertilisers To Anambra
The Federal Government through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has delivered a consignment of Liquid Gel
Fertiliser to flood victims in Anambra.
Mr Zubaida Umar, Director General of NEMA handed over the liquid gel fertilisers to Chief Paul Odenigbo, Executive Secretary of Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (AnSEMA) in Awka on Friday.
Umar who was represented by Mrs Ngozi Echeazu, Coordinator, Enugu Zonal office of NEMA said the fertiliser was approved under the national food security council to farmers affected by 2018 flooding in Anambra.
He noted that the liquid gel fertiliser was a replacement for the balance of NPK fertilizer approved for Anambra under the NESC- EAI for states affected by the 2018 flood.
The DG said the distribution started in 2020 was not concluded due to the changes in the regulations which led to the termination of the contract between NEMA and the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority for supply of NPK fertiliser
He said that one Litre of Liquid Gel Fertilizer was equivalent to 50 Kg of NPK 20-10-1O fertilizer
The DG said the process of procuring the Liquid Gel
Fertiliser from certified and licensed suppliers commenced in 2022 was concluded in February 2024
following approval by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Following this termination of the contract for the supply of NPK fertiliser and based on recommendations from the Office of the National Security Adviser.
“It is my pleasure to confirm that as at today the supply of
liquid gel fertiliser for Anambra has been completed and I am here on behalf of the DG NEMA to formally handover this consignment to Anambra Government for onward distribution to beneficiary farmers.

“Fertilizer will reach the beneficiaries before the expiration of the cropping
season,” she said.
The DG appreciated Gov Chukwuma Soludo for his efforts towards agricultural empowerment and food security in the state while urging him to ensure timely distribution of the liquid gel fertiliser to intended beneficiaries.
Odenigbo who received it on behalf of Anambra government thanked the Federal Government for the gesture while assuring that the fertiliser would be distributed as intended..
