I am still Chairman Of PDP In Anambra….Chief Nwobu
Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra has said that the State Executive Committee led by him remained vald and substantive.
Nwobu said this at a news conference held in the party Secretariat, Awka on Thursday while reacting to a ruling of a Federal High Court Abuja.
The ruling had purportedly nullified the Congress that produced his leadership of PDP in Anambra.
But Nwobu told newsmen that the ruling was a judgement of an Abuja High Court on May 24, 2018 which ruled that the Congress that produced him on Dec 4, 2017 was valid and his team subsisting.
Nwobu said the the Court also held that the Congress was ratified by former National Caretaker Committee at its 449 meeting held on Dec 7and Dec. 8 and that the tenure was unexhausted.
According to him, there is a valid and subsisting judgement protecting his leadership of PDP Executive Committee in Anambra which had not been set aside and remained binding on all parties until set aside by an Appellate Court.
“We heard that there was judgement delivered through zoom by an Abuja High Court which purportedly removed I and my team, we want to tell you that there was nothing of such that is why we are addressing you here in the party office.
“That judgment of May 24 by Hon Justice O.A Musa of Abuja High Court in suit no. FCT/HC/CV/ 049/2017 said the Congress that gave birth to this exco was in tandem with party guidelines and remains valid.
“Let it be known that the said judgement is of no substance and does not avail the plaintiffs of any right whatsoever being inconsistent with a valid judgement of a court of coordinate jurisdiction.
In view of the foregoing, we appeal to the Anambra PDP family, supporters and aspirants to go about their political activities without hindrance or let,” it stated.
Nwobu said the ward congresses to produce the three-man delegates ahead of the June 26 primary election would proceed as planned.
He said the party leadership was aware of those distracting the party in Anambra and would take necessary reprimand measures in due course
