IGP’s Workshop: Orutugu Tasks Officers On Professionalism, Respect For Human Rights
CP Ikioye Orutugu, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra,, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Command to enhance security service delivery.
Orutugu gave the assurance while addressing participants at the ongoing Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Capacity building Workshop in Awka, Anambra State
The theme of the workshop was “Strategic Police Conduct Through Emotional Intelligence, Human Relations, Communication Skills, and Attitudinal Change,”.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra who disclosed this a Statement quoted the CP as saying that the workshop aimed at strengthening professionalism, operational effectiveness, and service-oriented policing.
The CP who interacted with officers in the training also assessed their level of assimilation and practical understanding of the lectures.
He said the CP was satisfied with the enthusiasm, discipline and professional engagement of the officers adding that the training aligns with the IGP’s vision to reposition the Force through continuous capacity development.
He said Orutugu commended the facilitators and organisers for the quality and depth of lectures delivered, describing the programme as timely and impactful.
“The CP appreciates the Inspector-General of Police and the Management of the Nigeria Police Force, as well as the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) for sponsoring the workshop.
“The capacity-building initiatives such as this are critical to equipping officers with modern policing skills, intelligence-led strategies, emotional intelligence, and improved community engagement approaches, which are essential for effective policing in today’s security environment,” he said.
Orutugu urged participants to translate the knowledge gained into practical field operations adding that improved capacity must reflect in proactive policing, respect for human rights, professionalism, and increased public confidence in the Police.
He pledged that the Command under his watch would continue to support all initiatives aimed at professional development while assuring residents of his resolve to deliver enhanced, people-oriented, and effective security services across Anambra.
