NAFDAC Continues Inauguration Of Health Safety Clubs In Anambra
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has called on students in Anambra secondary schools to be agents of positive moral change.
Prof. Christiana Adeyeye, the Director General of NAFDAC gave the charge while setting up NAFDAC Consumer Safety Clubs (NCSC) in select Anambra secondary schools on Friday.
Adeyeye represented by Mr Louis Madubuattah led the team to inaugurate NCSC in Community Secondary School, Ifite-Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area and Girls Secondary School, Amaenyi, Awka South Local Government Area.
She cautioned students to avoid alcohol and hard drugs, warning that substance abuse could ruin their future.
The Director General who was represented by Mr Louis Madubuatta, a Deputy Director and Coordinator of NAFDAC in Anambra, emphasised the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices.
Madubuatta said NAFDAC was taking the campaign against drug abuse to the grass roots by re-establishing NCSC in secondary schools.
He said the agency would collaborate with the school teachers to work with students to catch-them-young and prevent life of addiction and destruction.
Benedeth Odiegwu, the Principal of the school, commended NAFDAC for its efforts to educate students about the dangers of substance abuse.
Odiegwu said the evil of drug misuse and abuse is seriously tarnishing the image of the society and, however, called for all hands to be on deck to curb it.
Also speaking, Mrs Ebele Okoye, Vice Principal/ Director Library, Girls Secondary School , Amaenyi welcomed the NAFDAC team and assured that school would t
ake the club seriously.
