NMA Offers Free Medical Care, Food To 600 Flood Victims In Anambra
The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has delivered free medical services to displaced flood victims in Anambra.
Dr Jane Ezeonu, Chairman of NMA in Anambra said this in an interview with newsmen in Awka on Thursday.
Ezeonnu said a team of 13 medical doctors delivered the free services at one of the internally displaced persons’ camp located in Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area.
She expressed worry that High Blood Pressure and anxiety issues were prevalent in the camp adding that those who needed more medical attention were referred for better treatment.
“As part of our activities towards saving lives in this period of disaster, we visited one of the IDPs camp in Umuleri to give free medical services.
“We had 13 doctors on duty and we attended to about 600 persons who were diagnosed with different ailments, while we handled the simple ones immediately, we referred others who needed more attention to hospital.
“Our aim is to ensure that they don’t lack care, especially basic medical care while in camp,” she said.
Ezeonu She said some food items were also delivered to them to ameliorate their suffering as food was a critical factor in ensuring a healthy life.
She called for a sustainable measure in addressing the challenge of flood in the country and reduce the interruptions on the communal existence of people in the affected area.
