Oluremi Tinubu Bags Title As Soludo Rallies Anambra For PBAT’s Second Term Victory
Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has been conferred with the title of ‘Ugo Eze’ by the Traditional Rulers Council in Anambra.
The wife of the president bagged the honour during her one day visit to Anambra during which she inaugurated some projects and National Community Food Bank for the Southeast geopolitical zone on Thursday.
Igwe Chidubem Iweka, the traditional ruler of Obosi and Chairman of traditional rulers in Anambra conferred the title which is loosely translated as Glory of the King on Tinubu.
The First Lady had earlier inaugurated an ICT Centre at the Federal Polytechnic Oko, held a brief meeting with traditional rulers at the new Government House before the grand event which was held at the Ekwueme Square.
Tinubu who shared fond memories of visiting Anambra as a young girl expressed gratitude to the council for conferring traditional titles on her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his visit to the state in May last year.
She commended the royal fathers for their steadfast support of the current federal administration and defended its economic policies, noting the removal of the fuel subsidy was a necessary and courageous step.
Tinubu lauded Gov. Chukwuma Soludo for the transformative development taking place across Anambra and described the infrastructure and administrative initiatives as “wonderful work.”
She promised to give N100,000 to each of the 5000 beneficiaries of Mrs Nonye Soludo’s food bank programme.
The empowerment programme provided 5,000 beneficiaries across the 21 Local Government Areas with business grants, vocational tools and equipment for agriculture, agro-processing, beauty care and small-scale enterprises.
In his speech, Soludo expressed confidence that Nigeria would become stronger and fairer under PBAT’s continued administration in the next four years.
The governor said that despite the difficult economic situation inherited by the Tinubu administration, the country’s future remained bright.
He said, “Today is not a day to elaborate on President Tinubu’s accomplishments for humanity, especially in the area of macroeconomics, infrastructure restructuring, insecurity and human capital.
“Its impact on the Anambra people is evident. For those who complain now, let me assure you that I see hope with the Renewed Hope agenda.
“Most people didn’t know the state of the economy inherited by President Bola Tinubu and the absolute necessity of the emergency surgical operation required.
“A cancer patient will obviously feel the pains of surgery, but the patient is guaranteed not to die of the cancer.
“The future is brighter. I’m convinced that the next four years of President Tinubu will most probably and certainly see a stronger and fairer Nigeria.”
Soludo also called for greater cooperation among progressive political forces in the country, saying such collaboration was necessary to achieve shared and sustainable prosperity.
