PDP Begs Peter Obi, Others To Return To Fold
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Anambra Chapter has said it would be glad to have Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election and other aggrieved members of the party back in its fold.
The PDP made the call after the enlarged meeting of the State Executive Committee (SEC) to review the state of the party and chart a forward. in Awka on Thursday.
The party in a communique signed by Mr Chidi Chidebe, Chairman of PDP in Anambra said alliances with ideologically incompatible political formations, in the guise of coalitions would likely not yield the desired success.
“The Committee extends an open invitation to all aggrieved and former members of the PDP in Anambra, particularly our revered former governor, Mr Peter Obi to return home and reunite with the now rejuvenated and restructured PDP,” it said.
The party called on Anambra electorate to support MrJude Ezenwafor, and his running mate, Mr Francis Okeke in the coming election while urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure fairness, transparency, and impartiality in the process.
“We call on the good people of Anambra to remain steadfast in their historic support for the PDP and to come out en masse to vote for our candidates,” he said.
PDP announced the unanimous nomination of Chief Clems Ezike to fill the vacant position of National Ex-Officio from Anambra and urged the Southeast Zonal Executive Committee under Chief Ali Odefa to recognise and transmit same to the National Secretariat.
The chapter commended party leadership for a successful National Executive Committee meeting on May 27 and expressed satisfaction with the template set for resolution of the internal crisis.
The chapter reaffirmed the resolutions of its May 21 meeting where it dissociated itself from unauthorised political coalitions and warned members against anti-party activity.
“Any State, Local Government, or Ward officer found to be part of any such group will be considered to have exited the party, and any position held by such an individual shall be declared vacant.
“We count on the continued loyalty, vigilance, and collective effort of our members as we march forward
, united and resolute.
