Peter Obi’s Aide Dismisses Arrest Rumour As Baseless
Dr Valentine Obienyem, Media Adviser to Mr Peter Obi has dismissed the rumoured arrest of the former presidential candidate of Labour Party as baseless.
Rumour has been making rounds that Obi was allegedly arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) at his home in Anambra.
Obienyem who dismissed the claims in a Statement on Tuesday said the report was totally false and baseless.
He said that the rumour which first surfaced on Saturday was promptly refuted but the peddlers of the falsehood had continued to spread it.
Obienyem clarified that Obi was not even in Anambra at the time of the alleged incident.
“As of Saturday, Mr Obi was in Rwanda attending important engagements.
“He has since returned to Nigeria and is currently in Edo State, where he is actively involved in party and national matters,” he said.
The statement also refuted the claim that Obi’s wife was arrested, describing it as a fabrication aimed at misleading the public and causing unnecessary panic among his supporters.
Obienyem said there was no DSS operation at his residence, and no arrest was made.
“I want to appeal to members of the public to disregard the falsehood and remain vigilant against the spread of misinformation.
“He said any official communication regarding Obi will be released through proper channels.
“As the situation develops, Mr Obi continues to focus on his commitment to the nation, while his team remains steadfast in providing accurate updates on his activities,” he said
