Soludo Meets Family Of Deceased Victim Of Onitsha Shooting
Gov. Chukwuma Soludo on Tuesday visited the family of Ms Chinwe Igwe who was murdered by operatives of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigade in Onitsha on Tuesday.
Igwe died from gunshot injury during a melee between traders in the Emeka Offor Plaza axis and officials of OCHA brigade who had gone for enforcement in the market.
Addressing the family members, Soludo condemned the attack saying no life should be lost so carelessly especially innocent ones.
A sombre looking Soludo said it was sad that the deceased who woke up, prayed to God and set out for the day like every other person had all her dreams and aspirations cut short in such a dastardly manner.
He said the incident did not define Anambra which was founded on rule of law and vowed to ensure that those enforced law did so within the ambits of the law.
He expressed satisfaction that the Police had started investigating the matter and promised that all those responsible were brought to book
Soludo prayed for quick recovery for three persons who were injured in the incident.
“I understand some arrests have been made, we should get to the bottom of this as quickly as possible.
“Law enforcement officers must always operate within the law, and those who exceed their authority will face the full weight of the law.
“We stand in solidarity with those who have experienced unjust treatment. This is not reflective of our values as a people.
“May the soul of Ms. Chinwe Igwe and all the souls of all the faithful departed re
st in peace,” he said
