Soludo Mourns Schoolboy Swept Away By Flashflood In Anambra
Gov. Chukwuma Soludo has commiserated with the family of Master Success Ezenwafor,
a pupil of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Primary School who was swept away in a Flashflood that followed the torrential rain of last week.
Ezenwafor was swept away by an early morning flood along Isiagu on the Awka-Nibo road while going to school alongside other children Sept.
22.
Soludo spoke during church service at the Cathedral Church of St Faith, Awka in commemoration of Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.
Soludo condoled the Ezenwafor family of Ekwulobia community in Aguata Local Government Area and the entire Nnamdi Azikiwe University Primary School for the sad loss.
He said the governor expressed deep personal grief about the incident and prayed that God grants the family, the school, and the community the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable separation.
Soludo used the solemn occasion to issue a vital public safety call.
“I strongly call on the people of Anambra to take immediate action by containing rainwater running off from their compounds, refraining from blocking drainages, planting trees, and actively cleaning drainage systems.
“We pray for peaceful repose of the soul of Master Success Ezenwafor and let us use the tragedy as a catalyst to take personal responsibility for the environment.
“Everyone of us has a critical role to play in safeguarding our communities, so as to prevent future occurrence of this sad development,” he said.
