SWAN Secretariat Alerts General Public Against Dealing With Suspended Olatutu, Bello
The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has said Olatutu Oladunni and Bello Omotunde, the erstwhile Chairman and Secretary respectively of Lagos State Chapter remain suspended and lost the legitimacy to act on behalf of the association.
The National Leadership of SWAN in a disclaimer alerted security agencies, corporate partners, media organisations, and the general public to be wary of the illegitimate activities of the suspended members and advised them against dealing with them.
The Statement signed by Ikenna Okonkwo, the Secretary General of the association said the former chairman and Secretary were suspended on Oct. 4 and barred from all association’s activities through a decision of NEC, pursuant to Article 21, Section (1) A and C of the SWAN Statute.
“Their suspensions took immediate effect and stripped the legitimacy to act in any capacity on behalf of SWAN”.
SWAN NEC said affairs of the Lagos State Chapter would be coordinated by Aaron Akerejola in acting capacity pending the conclusion of ongoing investigations by the Independent Investigation Committee.
SWAN NEC reiterated that no election had been held for Lagos State chapter any of such purported to have been organised by Olatutu and her cohorts was null, void, and of no effect.
“Olatutu Oladunni and Bello Omotunde should not be engaged on any matter relating to SWAN, their continued parading of themselves as officials of SWAN Lagos Chapter constitutes impersonation and a serious breach of the association’s statutes.
“As a professional Association, SWAN remains a law-abiding professional body and shall continue to cooperate with relevant security authorities to ensure that due process, order, and statutory discipline are upheld within its ranks,” it said.
