SWAN Urges Soludo To Reposition Solution FC For Better Results, Visibility
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has called on Gov. Chukwuma Soludo to reposition Solution FC, the state owned football club for more visibility, acceptability and marketability of the club.
SWAN made the call in a Communique issued at the end Congress of the
held on Jan. 30 at MichRoyal Hotel Awka.
The communiqué was signed by Chimezie Anaso, Uche Ndeke and Ifeanyi Okonkwo, Chairman, Secretary and member of the communiqué drafting committee.
The body of sports journalists commended Soludo for establishing the football club about three years ago but observed that the club had not been made to become a darling of the majority of football lovers in the state.
The group congratulated the governor on his victory in the Nov. 8, 2025 election and urged him to continue to deliver people oriented dividends of democracy especially in the area of youth development through sports.
SWAN reiterated the call on Soludo to strongly consider building an Olympic stadium in Anambra as the proposed for Awka stadium had been reduced to a football pitch due to the ‘Fun City’ project, a laudable public interest facility.
“SWAN commended Governor Soludo for establishing Solution FC, Anambra and called for a review of its management team to enhance visibility and marketability of the club.
“SWAN calls on Governor Soludo to rejig the sports sector and review his reward system for sports men and women to encourage more youths to engage in sports as a life changing endeavour,” he said.
The Chapter congratulated Ozonmma Tony Nezianya, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Olympic Committee and other sports icons from Anambra Chapter on their deserved recognition for their contributions to sports journalism during the 60th anniversary of SWAN.
SWAN urged Soludo to consider holding a reception for these and other sports icons as worthy ambassadors of the state.
“SWAN restates its commitment to neutrality, objectivity and protection minority voices for sustainability development of sports in Anambra.
“SWAN commends the national leadership under Isaiah Benjamin for its purposeful and result oriented leadership that has earned SWAN a deserved place in Nigeria sports map,” it said.
SWAN Congress observed a one-minute silence in honour of late Comrade Nobert, former Chairman of Enugu Chapter and Media Officer of Rangers Int’l FC of Enugu who was buried on Jan. 30.
