Teva Foods To Plant 200,000 Fruit Trees In Southeast
Teva Food, an agro company based in Jos, Plateau State has announced plans to plant 200,000 fruit trees in the Southeast region in the next two years.
Mr Chima Christian, the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Teva Foods said this on Monday.
Christian said the firm was planning to take the firm’s greenhouse and openfield farm operations to the Southeast as part of efforts towards ensuring food sustainability in the region.
He said he would lead a delegation of Teva Foods to Anambra and Enugu States in October.
He said during the visit, they would engage government officials, community associations, land owners, and a number of private sector operators.
“In addition to the greenhouse and openfield farm operations we are about to roll out in the South East, Teva Foods will be planting 200,000 fruit trees over the next two years.
“This particular visit to the East is the beginning of the conversations to make that happen.
“While also in the Southeast, we will be touring selected universities, secondary and primary schools with the singular goal of democratising knowledge and inspiring the next generation of smart farmers,” he said.
Christian said the goal of Teva Foods was that Africa would feed itself and the rest of the world.
“Ours is to plant the seeds of that future, and encourage others to do same,” he said.
