US-Based Activist Urges Peter Obi To Defend Self Against Cheap Political Blackmail
Mr Martin Nwabueze, an Anambra born activist based in the United States has called Mr Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) defend himself against unprovoked political attacks
Nwabueze who is the Co-founder of Tilova 4 Africa, a US based charity Organisation said this while weighing-in on the debt allegations raised by Prof. Chukwuma Soludo against Obi during his tenure as governor of Anambra State.
He said Peter Obi should summon up courage and counter the lies and stop referring to those who wish to destroy his political career for selfish gain as senior brothers.
He said even though Obi wants to be seen as friendly and leave loving, his pacifist carriage was giving him away as a weakling and one who would not be able to defend the massive support Nigerians were giving him.
Nwabueze said Obi’s attitude to blackmail and smear campaigns against him was making it attractive for more people to attack him and use him to build their selfish political capital.
‘Obi should stop enabling people like Gov. Soludo to destroy the political capital which he laboured many years to build
“What they have tried to do is to bring him down and this is for their own selfish political ambition.
“But all I see Peter Obi do when he wants to talk about these people , especially the governor, is call them ‘my senior brother’, that is not who a senior brother is in Igbo land, a ‘senior brother’ is supposed to stand for you, love you and help you succeed.
“So calling the governor who is trying to tear him down ‘senior brother’ is a sign of weakness, personally, I cannot vote for someone who calls his adversary a senior brother.
“These people everywhere insulting and discrediting him, trying hard to pull down the foundation upon which he built his political career and he cannot react. What are you afraid of?
“His excellency Mr Peter Obi has to come out and defend himself, he should also attack them in return, he is not running for the position of a parish priest but for the presidency of this country.
“Keeping quiet and referring to these people as his ‘senior brothers’ is indirectly validating the allegations against him.
“A Presidential material needs courage and vibrancy, he should have a red line and stop asking his trauducers for evidence.
“Politics is played in the court of public opinion not in a law court so nobody including the governor needs evidence to do damage, all they need are innuendos, allegations and propaganda, Peter has to fight back,” Nwabueze concluded.
