WAEC: Anambra Principal Hails CBT System
Mrs Chinelo Okocha, the Principal of Ado Girls’ Secondary School, Onitsha, has hailed the successful conduct of the 2025 WAEC Computer-Based Test (CBT) examinations in the school as a milestone towards advancing the quality and credibility of the examination in the country.
Okocha, said this in Awka while speaking on the success of the CBT model at Ado Girls Secondary School, Onitsha in the 2025 WEAC examination.
She said the introduction of WAEC CBT was innovative and transformative as it helped to address challenges associated with examinations in the country.
She said the CBT system eliminated human errors in marking, enhanced the speed of result processing and ensured candidates got accurate and timely feedback.
She said reducing dependence on paper, logistics, and physical examination scripts, CBT was more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
“With CBT, cases of malpractice are drastically reduced. The system promotes fairness and integrity, thereby strengthening the credibility of the WAEC certificate.
“Across the world, major examinations have embraced CBT and WAEC aligns Nigeria with such international best practices by adopting the system in assessment and evaluation,” she said.
“Exposure to digital testing equips students with ICT skills and confidence, preparing them for higher institutions and global opportunities where digital literacy is a necessity,” she said.
Okocha called on relevant stakeholders and policy makers to swiftly move towards CBT examination.
She said CBT was not an option but the way forward for credible, transparent, and globally competitive education in Nigeria.
“I strongly encourage fellow principals and all stakeholders to embrace this innovation wholeheartedly.
“Our experience at Ado Girls’ Secondary School demonstrates clearly that the future of public examinations in Nigeria lies in computer-based testing.
“The smooth execution of this year’s WAEC CBT affirms that with proper planning and infrastructure, schools can easily
adapt to this system” she said.
