2027: NDC Party And Onunkwo Tsunami In Anambra South District
Since Ebuka Onunkwo, a billionaire businessman and the top aspirant for Anambra South Senatorial District announced his defection into the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) at the weekend, political realignment has continued to change.
Political office aspirants in the Senatorial District have moved into the NDC to contest for its ticket while the electorate are anxiously waiting to vote for Onunkwo and other candidates on the party ticket.
Onunkwo’s defection into the NDC with his massive grassroots support base and capacity will complement the organic followership of Peter Obi to form a galvanised bloc that potentially guarantees convincing victory for candidates of the party.
Furthermore, NDC has become a major beneficiary of disenchantment and disillusionment within the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) with many of its members vowing to deliver Obi and others in a bandwagon manner.
As candidates of political parties are set to emerge ahead of the January election, the contest in Anambra will definitely be a two horse race between the APGA and then NDC.
While the incumbent Sen. Emmanuel Nwachukwu will likely retain the APGA ticket, it is expected that NDC will hand its ticket to the man of the moment, Ebuka Onunkwo.
Nwachukwu is in the Senate as a beneficiary of political compromise where other aspirants of APGA had to step down their ambition, support his campaign and ensure his victory.
The condition this time has changed as most faithful have decided to go with their preferred aspirants and candidates to their new political parties where they are sure of getting a ticket and being on the ballot.
This is the opportunity the NDC, the party with “blue background with red inscription and two fingers in the air” as its logo has provided the electorate of Anambra South Senatorial District and the state in general.
At the moment, the NDC bug is raging in Anambra and South Senatorial District in particular as the electorate are set to assert the political dominance of Peter Obi in the state.
The electorate in Anambra South Senatorial District are enthusiastically waiting for the NDC to hand its ticket of Onunkwo in order to deliver the first elected Senator to the party.
