650 Get Free Medical Care As Foundation, ARD-NAUTH Mark Philanthropist’s Birthday

The Carter Foundation in collaboration with Association Resident Doctors, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Branch (ARD-NAUTH) have delivered free medical services to no fewer than 650 persons in Anambra in honour of Chief Izuchukwu Onwugbenu on his birthday.
Onwugbenu, a billionaire and philanthropist and founder of Louis-Carter Foundation.
Free clinical consultations, antenatal care, vital signs, ultrasound scanning, laboratory test, ophthalmology services and distribution of eye glasses, drug dispensary, referral services and counselling were given during the outreach which took place in Nnewi.

Dr Nwabueze Okeke, President of ARD-NAUTH who spoke to journalists on Sunday said a team of no fewer than 20 Doctors, Pharmacist, Laboratory Scientists, Radiologists and nurses participated in the exercise.
Okeke congratulated Onwugbenu on his birthday celebration and commended the Louis-Carter Foundation for collaborating with ARD-NAUTH in organising the outreach which he described as ‘hugely’ successful

He said through the outreach, they were able screen, and diagnose medical conditions as well as prescribe medications to prevent and treat hypertension and its diabetic complications, seizure disorders, neuropathic pains, arthritis, urinary problems.
“As we all know, prevention is still better and cheaper than cure, this is why we at ARD-NAUTH wish to use this medium to raise awareness that people should adopt the culture of routine health checks.
“About 650 patients were attended to, among them number of undiagnosed hypertensive patients got to know their numbers today, we tested and provided expert counselling on HIV for those that requested, we encouraged people to adhere strictly to medications and ensure healthy living.
“We advise healthy dieting and avoid harmful substances that may affect and damage the organs,” he said

The ARD-NAUTH President said it would continue to provide expert support for medical and surgical outreaches in Nnewi and other communities while urging individuals and groups to borrow a leaf from Onwugbenu who provided full sponsorship for the programme.
