Imoka Festival: Police Arrests Suspect With Pistol, Hard Drugs
The Police in Anambra have arrested one Nasiru Samaila, 25 and recovered one locally made Beretta pistol, live ammunition and knife from him in Awka.
The Police also intercepted a
a large quantity of substance suspected to be hard drugs, in Awka.

Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra who disclosed this on Tuesday said the arrest and recovery were made during a raid of some black spots in the town.
Ikenga said suspect shot indiscriminately in a bid to escape but was subdued by the Police team that fired him on his right leg.
Ikenga said the raid was part of the proactive measures to forestall crime and vices which misguided youth perpetrated during the ancient festival of Imoka.
“We have intensified raid and discreet operations on some identified black spots in Awka and its environs. This is aimed at ensuring a crime-free celebration of the festival.
“Our team also recovered one locally made Beretta pistol, one live ammunition, one knife, a large quantity of substance suspected to be hard drugs, in Awka.
“Unfortunately, one of the police operatives sustained a gunshot injury and has been taken to the hospital where he is currently responding to treatment,” he said.
Ikenga said the Anambra State Police Command remained committed to enforcing the law and ensuring public safety.
