APC Alleges Soludo Using State Money to Prosecute Second Term
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra should not use the state money to prosecute his second term ambition.
Chief Arinzechukwu Awogu, a chieftain of the APC said this in Awka on Tuesday while reacting to the comments by Soludo that his opponents in the election were not contesting to win but to raise business capital.
Awogu who spoke at the end of five weeks ‘thank you tour’ of Dr Nicholas Ukachukwu, candidate of APC challenged Soludo to make public his bank statement to prove that he was prosecuting the election with his personal money.
He said Soludo should be humble and run his campaign with his achievement instead of throwing tantrums at other candidates
Awogu said Soludo was a university lecturer before venturing into politics and could not have saved from his salary to contest for governorship unlike Ukachukwu whose affluence was known to all.
“Soludo should separate his personal money, if he has any, from Anambra State funds,” he said.
“He should publish his bank statement before he became governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, if he had up to five percent of what Ukachukwu had at that same period, Ukachukwu will withdraw from the race.
“You may not be aware that contractors handling government projects in Anambra State have been told by the governor to stop requesting for payments until after the governorship election.
What it simply means is that Soludo is prosecuting his ambition with the people’s funds, every move he makes in the course of the governorship election is funded from the coffers of the state,” he said.
Awogu who is the National Coordinator of Ikemba Front congratulated Ukachukwu, his running mate, Sen. Uche Ekwunife and for a successful Local Government thank you tour of the state.
He said the successful and impactful thank you tour was funded whole and entire from the personal fund of the APC candidate.
He accused Soludo of delivering substandard roads which were already collapsing before completion while the flyover at Ekwulobia was yet to be completed after more than a hear.
“Former Gov. Willie Obiano built three flyovers in Awka in just eight months, Anambra has never witnessed this level of retrogression and monumental failure in governance as seen under Soludo.
“Stop the Federal Allocation to Anambra today, you will discover that Soludo is not going for any election, that is the person who is throwing tantrums at those prosecuting and funding their elections with their hard earned resources,” he said.
Awogu said the thank you tour which started on June 17 revealed the level of acceptance of APC in Anambra State and brought to the fore the popularity of Ukachukwu and his running mate, Ekwunife am
ong the people of the state.
