Police Arrest Suspected Criminal Escapee In Anambra
The Nigerian Police, Anambra command has arrested one Emmanuel Osuigwe at Amakwa, Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
Osuigwe was arrested in the evening of Nov. 30 by personnel attached to Ozubulu Police Division who worked in collaboration with the Ozubulu Central Vigilante
SP Toochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officers in Anambra who made this known in a Statement on Tuesday said the operation was in furtherance to security strategic measures put in place by CP Ikioye Orutugu, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra,
He said the strategy included security surveillance, strengthened visibility policing, and expanded routine and targeted patrols both day and night.
He said the suspect was seen behaving suspiciously and attempted to conceal himself upon sighting the joint patrol team.
“He was immediately apprehended and a search conducted on him led to the discovery of a handcuff wound and recovery of a handcuff.
“During preliminary questioning, the suspect allegedly claimed to be a member of a criminal group and stated that he had recently escaped from a camp at Ukpor following a disagreement with other members.
“He is currently in Police custody and undergoing further interrogations, he has provided useful information that is aiding ongoing investigations.
“The Police in Anambra assure residents of continued efforts to maintain peace, security, and public safety across the State” he said.
