Soludo Appoints Bishop Kukah As Ojukwu Varsity Chancellor
Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has appointed Most Rev. Dr Hassan Kukah as the Chancellor of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Anambra State.
Mr Christian Aburime, the Chief Press Secretary to Soludo announced this in a Statement made available to journalists on Wednesday.
Kukah is the Founder of the Kukah Centre and currently the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese.
Aburime said Kukah was expected to leverage his global network to foster international partnerships and inspire ethical leadership in the University.
“This signals a commitment to producing well-rounded graduates,” he said.
Bishop Kukah is an eminent Nigerian intellectual and cleric who integrates academic scholarship in pursuit of social justice in Nigeria.
He attended St. Augustine Major Seminary Jos, Plateau State, where he studied Philosophy and Theology; the University of Ibadan, where he obtained a diploma in religious studies.
He obtained a bachelor of divinity at the Pontifical Urban University, Rome, a master’s degree in peace studies at the University of Bradford, and a Ph.D. from University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in 1990.
Bishop Kukah is also an author.
Recall that Soludo on Tuesday appointed a new Governing Council for the University headed by Prof. Peter Onwualu.
