700 Students Get Scholarship From IGAHAF Foundation In Six Years

No fewer than 700 youths from across 12 states of the federation have benefited from the IK Aguowo Health and Academic Foundation(IGAHAF) .
Chief Ignatius Aguowo, the founder and Chainman Board of Trustees of the Foundation revealed this during the 6th Annual Education Summit in Awka.
The IGAHAF also inducted graduated beneficiaries into its Global Network Of Alumni
Aguowo said the vision of the foundation was to close the education gap, alleviate poverty and provide a platform where academic dreams could thrive.
According to him, currently, IGAHAF provides comprehensive academic sponsorship to more than 700 beneficiaries in more than 12 states of the federation.
“We will continue to do our best to enrich lives and uplift the people through education empowered,” he said
Dr Ebuka Onunkwo, the Chairman on the occasion commended IGAHAF for its objectives which aligned with his principles and ideas of life.
Onunkwo who is the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic (Congress) apart from helping the vulnerable to access education, IGAHAF also offered free healthcare to the masses.
He lauded the foundation for its impactful interventions in the area of education and health while calling on the privileged in the society to take a cue and reach to those in need around them.
“This initiative aligns with what my foundation is doing, we must help those in need around, so I call on the people of Anambra to emulate Aguowo for a better society,” he said.
On his part, Dr Nwabufo Nwankwo, the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Secretary to the Anambra State Government, said the activities of IGAHAF was in line with the Public Private Community Partnership model mantra of the Gov. Chukwuma Soludo administration on education.
Nwankwo who said the Foundation had distinguished itself in humanitarian services commended Aguowo for his dedication, zeal and commitment towards helping humanity.
Dr Ekene Oguguo, the Commissioner for Education in Anambra said the record of the state as having the lowest out of school children in Nigeria was because of education-based foundations such as IGAHAF.
Oguguo appreciated Aguowo for helping the government to enhance access to education accessibility in the state.
Appreciating the guests, Gloria Abanihe, the Executive Director of IGAHAF said their target was to 10,000 students enjoy education under the funding programme.
“We want to provide free basic education to the less privileged in the society and to contribute, build up stability where necessary,” she said.
Those inducted into IGAHAF Global Network Of Alumni were Nwafor Cynthia and Anya Chukwubuike of the Department of Pharmacy Department, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Iduma Eze, of the Department of Law, Ebonyi State University and Bryan Ikegbue of the Christ The King College Onitsha cash and laptop each for outstanding performance.
