Rangers FC lose two players in deadly crash
Rangers International Football Football Club of Enugu has announced the death of two their players Ifeanyi George a striker in the main team and Ibrahim, who belonged to team be.
The duo alongside one other person’s who were occupants in the vehicles died instantly when their vehicle crashed into a stationary truck along Benin-Onitsha expressway on their way to Lagos.
In a statement, Nobert Okolie, Media Officer of Rangers said the club had in March 20 declared a 10 day break of its activities as part of the proactive measures to curb the dreaded COVID-19.
“The management of Rangers International F.C sadly reports the involvement of some of our players in a fatal accident while traveling for the ten-days break given few days back.
“Our attacking sensation, Ifeanyi George who was in his vehicle driven by his friend including a B team player, had the vehicle smashed into a parked articulated vehicle along Onitsha-Agbor-Benin road, Sunday morning,” he stated.
Okolie said Davidson Owunmi, General Manager of Ranger FC who confirmed the crash and death of the players had called on the general public to support the club with prayers at this time of grief.
” We just heard this disturbing news this morning and what we hear is not palatable.
“We call for prayers in this hour of pains,” he said.
