Veteran Nollywood Actress Oniga Dies At 64
A popular Nollywood actress,Rachael Oniga has died at the age of 64.
She died on Friday July 30.
The Lagos State chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rising, confirmed the news of her demise in a telephone interview Saturday morning.
According to him, we just got the news early this morning today. We have nothing to say other than to give glory to God for a life well spent.”
Rising said the sad news had left them down and surprised while promising to give details later.
Mr Rising promised to call back and share more details about Ms Oniga’s death.
Oniga featured in scores of Nollywood movies —both English and Yoruba— before her demise.
The deceased actress, born on May 23, 1957, began her career in 1993 with the blockbuster, Onome as her first movie.
She was multiple award winner in her career which spanned for 27 years during which she featured in movies like The Wedding Party, The Royal Hibiscus Hotel, 30 Days in Atlanta, Sango, Out of Bounds, among others.
