ANSSI: St. Alphonsus Girls, Igwebuike Boys Zoom To State football Finals
The Captain of St Alphonsus Secondary School, Nkpor female football team, Chidera Obiano, has said she was hopeful that her team will lift the Anambra Sport Soludo Initiative (ANSSI) female football cup.
Obiano said this after her team defeated Community Secondary School, Ugbenu girls 4-0 to book a place in the state finals of the football event of the festival.
The match took place at Nnamdi Azikiwe Secondary School Abagana football pitch centre before the weekend.
The skipper said they were excited with the win and would work hard to emerge overall champions at the final.
“We are happy that we won, at first, we were jittery but with encouragement from our coach, we made it.
“I am hopeful that we will win the female cup, we will work hard and pray hard, by God’s grace we will win, she said.
In the male U18 category for football, Bubendoff Memorial, Adazi and Igwebuike Grammar School, Awka made it to the State finals from the centre.

Igwebuike Grammar School defeated Okwutalukwe Secondary School, Enugwu-Ukwu by 3-1while Bubendorff Memorial pupper their rivals, St Mary’s High School, Ifitedunu 1-0 to sail through.
Earlier, Rosa Mystica Secondary School, Agulu trounced Community Secondary School, Okpuno 3-0 in another female football encounter.
