PDP Tasks Anambra Electoral Commission On Neutrality, Strategises for LG Polls
Mr Chigozie Igwe, chairman of the PDP in Anambra has called on the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) to adhere to the principles of transparency, fairness, and impartiality before and during the yet to be scheduled Local Government election.
Igwe made the call in a parley in Awka on Thursday while reacting to the inauguration of the electoral body by Gov. Chukwuma Soludo.
He said the PDP has commenced strategic plans ahead of the Local Government election and expressed confidence in the ability of the party to win a majority of the councils when it was conducted.
“We, the PDP in Anambra, wish to call on ANSIEC to ensure that all eligible voters are given the opportunity to participate in the electoral process without any form of intimidation or harassment.
“We will not accept any form of manipulation or rigging in the upcoming local government elections, as a party we are fully prepared and positioned to win the majority of the elections.
“We have been strategising and working tirelessly towards the future elections in the state, including the 2025 governorship elections,” he said.
Igwe said the PDP remained the most accepted party in Anambra while assuring that it would remain committed to democratic principles and determined to ensure that the electoral will of the people prevailed.
According to him, we are popular and highly accepted in Anambra. All we ask is that ANSIEC should maintain independence as its name connotes.
