Odera Market Kickstart Traders Competition Campaign With Victories
The much anticipated second Anambra Traders Sports Competition Kicked off Friday with an explosive match between Albert Anene of Odera Market Awka and Chibuzo Nwankwo of Eke-Oyibo market Amawbia in the Tennis event.
Anene of Odera Market won the encounter with 6-2: 2-2 scratch to earn his first victory in the competition in the game played held at the Awka City Sports Club Centre.
Odera Market earned another victory in Table Tennis on Day-One through Uchenna Omeifekwem who defeated Ndubuisi Anierobi of Eke-Oyibo 11-2 and 11-2 in a game of best of two.
Anierobi Chimobi of New Spare Parts Market, Nnewi won the first edition of the event while Emeka Obidike of Odera Market, Awka is the reigning first runner up.
Omeifekwem who spoke to journalists after the game said it felt good beating an opponent much younger himself.
“Table Tennis is my hobby, I started playing since I was in secondary school, I play it for pleasure but if any reward comes in , good,” he said.
There was action in draught where the representative of Odera Market beat his opponent from Eke-Oyibo market 2-0.
The Anambra Traders Sports Competition is organised by the Anambra State Sports Development Commission (ASSDC) in collaboration with Anambra State Amalgamated Traders Association.
