Anambra Traders Lock Horns As Upholstery Beat Main Market 4-1 In Soccer
The second edition of the Anambra Traders Sports Competition got under across seven market zones in the state.
The competition sponsored by Gov Chukwuma Soludo was yet another opportunity for the ever-business mindenes traders to take a break from the bustling and hustling of the market to entertain themselves and compete for money.
At the Godwin Achebe Stadium in Onitsha zone, soccer event took the stage with Upholstery team squaring up against Main Market in an enthralling encounter.
Both teams struggled to find the net to no avail in both halves forcing the game to end in barren draw at regulation time.
The Upholstery soccer boys however snatched a win via penalty shootout scoring four times against the Main Market counterparts who managed to score once.
Both teams’ players gave good account of themselves in skills and stamina to the admiration of the teeming enthusuasts and supporters.
The soccer event continues at both Godwin Achebe Stadium, Fegge and Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium, Onitsha on Saturday in the preliminaries to determine the zonal representatives.
The competition is organised by the Anambra Anambra State Sports Development Commission (ASSDC) in collaboration with Anambra State Amalgamated Traders Association.
