Anambra 2021: Catholic Priest Urges Politicians To Stop Wasting Money On Judiciary
Rev. Fr. Obimma Emmanuel, the Spiritual Director of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Idemili South LGA of Anambra called on politicians in the state to stop spending their money on lawyers and judges as the Nov. 6 governorship election draws near.
Obimma who is also the Parish Priest of the Blessed Iwene Tansi Parish, Umudioka, Dunukofia Local Government Area admonished them to rather spend their resources on ventures that would uplift humanity.
The priest who gave the advice while delivering a homily at a Eucharistic celebration at the parish on Sunday expressed worry that political parties and politicians were spending money amounting to billions of Naira in courts over intra party conflicts that could be managed internally.
Fr Obimma popularly known as Ebube Muonso regretted that the majority of youths still roam the streets without jobs; and that many could hardly get their daily bread.
According to them, everybody cannot be governor at the time. Instead of wasting resources on the judiciary, I had expected them to pool such resources together and build industries that would accommodate our teaming unemployed youths, who are currently roaming the streets without jobs.
“I’m very sad and worried at the desperate rate with which politicians want to grab power.
“In the build-up for the Anambra governorship election coming up in November, a series of court cases have been springing up here and there, from the biggest political party to the least; all in the bid to grab power, and have control over the wealth of the state.
“In almost all the political parties, there are court cases; presently, it is a harvest time for judges, who open their mouths wide to grab money from politicians, who cannot control their ego.
“I have met some of the politicians at different fora, and advised them to channel their resources on something good and beneficial.
“Also, there are old people in the society, who have nobody to take care of them. There are also sick people in the hospital, who cannot offset their bills,” he said
