Anambra APC Chairman Under Fire Over Allegations Of, Anti Party, Lawless
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra, Sen. Emma Anosike, has come under scratching criticism by party members across the state for lacking in accountability, gross disregard for party constitution and outright sabotage.
The party faithful who have protested openly and in writing are calling for his removal from office for deliberately working to sabotage the electoral fortune of the party in the state by fielding weak candidates to favour opposition.
Mr Arinzechukwu Awogu, a chieftain of the party and treasurer of the party in Anambra alleged that funds realised by the party had not been adequately unaccounted for and that transactions were not going through his office.
He said some of the funds included over N100 million from Abuja fundraising, over N100 million from Awka fund raising meant for the State Congress and about N200 million meant for Anambra delegates at the South-East Zonal Congress.
Awogu said others includev. over N600 million meant for Anambra delegates to the party’s National Convention in Abuja from which most delegates had not received their money and over N100 million meant for the just concluded party primaries in the State.
Anosike turned the bank account of the party into his personal account and disbursed party funds through his personal bank account.
“My feud with Sen. Emma Anosike started on March 29 when as the State Treasurer of the party, I wrote a memo to him demanding for accountability and the establishment of a proper accounting system as funds were bypassing my office to destinations I did not know.
“He felt that by asking for accountability that I have gone beyond my briefs and immediately swapped my office as the elected State Treasurer of the party with that of the Anambra North Zonal Vice Chairman.
“Party offices were zoned local governments and the office of State Treasurer was zoned to my local government, Ogbaru, and as such cannot be whimsically swapped because I made an innocent demand for accountability.
“The chairman colluded with the opposition in the state to field weak and inexperienced candidates, and in some state constituencies not fielding at all,” he said.
Awogu said in Anosike’s Anambra East Local Government Area and neighbouring Anambra West, four credible aspirants tried to buy nomination and expression of interest forms but he refused to sell to them.
He alleged that the chairman was highly compromised and was not fit to lead the party into the 2027 general elections.
Awogu explicitly called for the removal of Anosike as Chairman of Anambra APC as part of the repositioning effort ahead of the 2027 general elections and to forestall sabotage in the election.
“He ended up not fielding any candidate from Anambra East and West state constituencies.
“He has inadvertently traded off the party candidates’ tickets ahead of the polls
“Since becoming the state chairman of the party, he has created so much confusion and division and factionalised the party in most local government areas by creating parallel local government party executives other than the ones elected through various local government party congress of Feb. 21.
“Creating a factional parallel party organs at any level,” is a sanctionable offense by the party.
“Engaging in anti-party activities or conduct likely to bring the party into hatred, contempt, ridicule, or disrepute,” are all offenses punishable by removal from office, both of which have been committed by Anosike.
“He created a parallel local government party executive in Ogbaru Local Government Area as well as five other local government areas that were different from what was produced by the local government congress that was held.
“In the case of Ogbaru, he said if I do not accept his imposition of someone who was never a part of the local government congress as chairmanship of APC in Ogbaru Local Government that “Ogbaru Will Go Down.”
“ That was a reckless statement, very unbridled and certainly very unbecoming of a former Senator-not far from the realities of the effect of diminishing returns.
“Ogbaru refuses to accept this imposition and would never do so and will also not descend so low as to talk down on his own community, Umueri, in like manner,” he said.
