Anambra FA, Awka All Stars Set For Titanic Clash In SWAN Sports Week
Chikelue Iloenyosi, Chairman of Anambra State Football Association (AnSFA) will lead the FA team to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra Chapter Sports Week.
The SWAN Anambra Chapter sports week is scheduled to hold at the Cosmilla Hotel and Suites Sports Arena between Aug. 20 and 21 with four games on parade.
The games with the theme “Sports for Peace and Economic Empowerment” will 5-Aside Football, Table Tennis, Ludo and Draught.
Chikelue Iloenyosi, chairman of AnSFA said on Thursday that the association was fully identifying and participating in support for growth and development of sports in Anambra.
Chikelue, an ex international football and Special Assistant to the Sports Commissioner said AnSFA was coming to show that they were the masters of Football.
“Anambra State Football Association is in solidarity with SWAN and the media generally.
“We are coming to the SWAN Sports Week to celebrate sports, we are coming to celebrate football and we are coming to win because football is our game,” he said.
The Awka All Stars Football Club, a veterans’ football club has also signed on to the fiesta with the resolve to go home with the record of the overall best team in the maiden SWAN games.
Ikechukwu Nweke(JeluoAwka), Chairman of Awka All Stars said his team was looking forward to the exciting event while congratulating SWAN for conceiving the idea.
According to him, we are not just going to play football, we take part in other events.
“All Stars Club is for sports, we are happy with what SWAN is doing in the area of sports reporting and promotion in Anambra,” he said.
The main SWAN Anambra Sports Week would feature 5-Aside football competition, Table Tennis, Ludo and Draught.
Chimezie Anaso, Chairman of SWAN in Anambra said the event was to promote fitness and relaxation among journalists.
SWAN is inviting lovers of sports, friends of the media and prospective partners to avail themselves the opportunity to enjoy good sports and promote their brands.
