Anambra FA Hails Hosting Of Barau-Ikorodu Q/F Game In Awka
Chikelue Iloenyosi, the Chairman of Anambra State Football Association (FA) has commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for fixing the match between Barau FC and Ikorodu City in the quarter stage of the President Federation Cup in Awka Township Stadium.
Iloenyosi made the commendation while speaking to newsmen in Awka on Monday.
The match between Barau FC and Ikorodu City will be played at the Awka Township Stadium, in Awka on June 11.
He said the Round of 16 game between Nasarawa Utd and Rivers Utd in Awka on June 6 was a proof of the growing confidence in Anambra as a viable venue for top national football matches..
He called on football enthusiasts and lovers of sports in Awka and across Anambra to come out en masse on Thursday to enjoy the best of professional football.
“More of these games will definitely do the state some good by keeping the youth busy positively, reducing insecurity and social vices as well as grow the tourism sector.
“I want to thank Gov. Chukwuma Soludo for providing the political leadership and the Commissioner for Sports
who has shown immense commitment to the development of football and sports generally in Anambra.
“We are ready to collaborate with the ministry for the growth of the sector and discovery of budding talents at the grassroots,” he said.
