Anambra Guber: PDP Targets 163, 000 Fresh Members In Anambra
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it hopes to register 500 new members in each of the 326 electoral wards in Anambra during the one week membership registration exercise.
Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, Chairman of PDP, Anambra chapter said this during the inauguration and distribution of party membership cards to 21 local government chairmen of the party at the party Secretariat, Awka on Thursday.
Nwobu said the exercise which would effectively commence on April 13 would last for seven days in designated open places around the wards.
He said the membership registration was part of preparations and awareness activities ahead of the Nov. 6 governorship election.
The chairman urged the registration officials to treat people with civility and respect their decisions but be careful enough to stop infiltrators from other political parties.
“We are targeting to register 500 new members in each of the 326 electoral ward of Anambra in addition to the millions of PDP faithful that we have in the state.
” The registration will be implemented at the ward level under the supervision of local government and senatorial zone leadership of the party, we are not going to buy members or force people to join as other parties have done,” he said.

Nwobu called on the people of Anambra to take advantage of the exercise and embrace the party as there was no better party to lead Anambra come November in view of the poor political fortunes of the state in recent years.
PDP membership registers were also handed over to the 21 local government chapters of the party for onward distribution to the wards.
