APC Support Group Congratulates Awogu On INEC’s Confirmation Of His Candidacy
The Ikemba Front, a major political support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra, has congratulated Chief Arinzechukwu Awogu, its Coordinator on his confirmation as the candidate of the party for Ogbaru Federal Constituency.
This was contained in a Statement jointly signed by Mr Ikechukwu Ikeobi, and Mr Obi Ibegbunam, National Secretary of and National Assistant Secretary respectively in Awka stadium on Friday.
This followed the release of the list of 11 winners of the May 16 primary election of the APC by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The list had Awogu, as the winner of the primary election of the party for House of Representatives, Ogbaru Federal Constituency.
A forwarding letter signed by both the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Elizabeth Agwu and the Deputy Director Head of Department of Election and Party Monitoring, Mr Ayogu Obinna, which had been uploaded on INEC portal said the candidates were the duly elected winners of their respective federal constituencies.
Ikemba Front said the focus had now moved from primary election to strategies on winning elections for the party.
It said the fielding of candidates such as Awogu had boosted the prospect of APC winning seats in the National Assembly elections.
“We have to chose between fielding candidates that can win elections for the party and sending those who will make up the numbers.
“Fielding candidates like Arinzechukwu Awogu, the party is sending a strong message that it is serious about winning seats in the coming national assembly elections.
“We congratulate our leader, Arinzechukwu Awogu and other candidates whose names were confirmed by INEC, our party, the APC has fielded strong, credible and experienced candidates who can win election for the for the Federal Constituencies
“However, we want to caution that this election must not be allowed to be hijacked by the opposition party in the state in the name of “progressives are working together,”
“Progressives are not working together when the opposition party in the state fielded candidates for national elections,” it said.
Recall that the APC primary election for Ogbaru Federal Constituency was contested between Awogu and Mrs Nkechi Isamade, with the former Ogbaru Local Government Council Chairman scoring 688 votes as against Isamade who got 41 votes.
