Ikorodu City beat Barau FC To Zoom To semifinal of President Federation Cup In Awka
Ikorodu Utd of Lagos on Thursday beat Barau FC of Kano 5-4 on penalties to progress to the semi final stage of the President Federation Cup.
The thrilling encounter which was played at the Awka Township Stadium ended two goals a piece at regulation time before it was decided on penalties.
The game was forced into penalty with Ikorodu hitting the net five times against Barau FC’s four.
Speaking after the game, Bright Obezagbe, Technical Adviser of Ikorodu Utd commended his players for their resilience and playing according to plan.
Obezagbe said “It was no cruise, the boys did what they had to do, they were resilient.
“No game is easy, this one game with a different challenge, it ended with penalties and that is nobody’s game, so we thank God,” he said.
Obezagbe expressed hope that the team would get better in the semi final stage but admitted that it would not be an easy task.
Patrick-Agha Mba, Commissioner of Sports Youth Development in Anambra commended the both teams for entertaining enthusiasts to a spectacular game.
Mba said the administration of Chukwuma Soludo Soludo would continue to provide a conducive sports ecosystem for the delight of teeming lovers of sports in Anambra.
