Hearty Birthday Cheers to Aburime, A Quintessential Penman

On this day, July 9, many years ago, Mr Christian Osagie Aburime, the Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Chukwuma Soludo was gifted to the world and the media in particular.

Aburime, a media guru has discharged his onerous duty managing the image of Soludo with ease and steeze for the past four and a half years when his principal appointed him in that position.

Soludo is one whom those close to him say is a perfectionist and difficult to please but Aburime has been able to tell the Soludo story, push the Solution narrative and repel media onslaught on the government.

One does not have to wander far to find out why Gov. Soludo did not only see him as worthy of the calling but deserving of reappointment and promotion.

While many gave excuses as to why it was difficult to impress Soludo, Aburime got elevated by his boss from the rank of a Press Secretary in the first term to Chief Press Secretary in the second term.

Aburime blends his vast knowledge and experience in Public Relations and Journalism in doing his job as CPS such that he has been able to project Soludo and Soludo’s administration most effectively and responsibly.

Despite the constraints he faces, Aburime has been able to build a strong bridge between the government and the media community as well as engender a tolerant and free press environment.

Where issues arose within the media community like in the matter between the Anambra Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists and the Correspondents’ Chapel, the CPS did not take sides, instead he played a mediatory role which resulted in a win-win solution and mutual respect for the parties.

Even though misunderstood by some of his colleagues in the field, Aburime has proven to be a man with a kind heart that could give the world if he had it.

It is in this note we join the Aburime family and Soludo administration to celebrate a quintessential media professional, an articulate Institutional Communicator and a multiple award winner, Christian Osagie, on his birthday.

Aburime is an alumnus of the University of Ibadan with a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts and Media Studies, and also holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies.
