League Of Anambra Journalists Salutes Nigerian Workers On May Day

The League of Anambra Journalists in Abuja (LAJA) has sent hearty congratulations to Nigerian workers, especially media professionals on the occasion of the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration.

LAJA in a May Day message signed by

Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo and Princess-Ekwi Ajide, its President and

Secretary respectively commended workers for their extraordinary resilience, dedication and patriotism in spite prevailing economic and social challenges.

“Your commitment to nation-building, service delivery and the advancement of society remains a source of inspiration and hope for a better Nigeria.

“As journalists, workers in the media space have continued to play a critical role in deepening democracy, promoting accountability, amplifying the voices of the people and defending the truth, often under difficult and risky conditions.

“LAJA acknowledges the sacrifices of media practitioners and urges them to remain steadfast, professional and committed to ethical journalism.

“The League also commends Nigerian workers across all sectors for their hard work, perseverance and invaluable contributions to national growth and development.

“We encourage workers not to lose hope but to continue striving for excellence while believing in the promise of a brighter future,” it said.

LAJA called on government at all levels, employers and relevant stakeholders to prioritise workers’ welfare, create enabling environments, ensure fair remuneration and implement policies that would improve the living and working conditions of Nigerians.

“As we celebrate Workers’ Day, may the labour of every Nigerian worker continue to yield progress, prosperity and fulfilment,” it said.
