Oye, Ex APGA Nat’l Chair Marks 70th Birthday, Recounts Battles For Party’s Soul
Chief Victor Oye, former national chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) says he fought many battles to keep the party alive.
Oye said this during his 70th birthday thanksgiving mass in Amawbia, Awka on Saturday.
He described his national Chairmanship of APGA between 2015 and 2028 as a period of battle and rest of wits adding that his 70 years journey had been years of serious uncertainty.
“I fought a serious fight in APGA for eight years, for eight years, I had the fortune of APGA on my shoulders. At a time, it was like APGA was gone
“For me , it has been 70 years of tortuous years with serious uncertainty but I give gratitude to God for seeing me through.
“I am happy that we are all enjoying APGA today, may my successor not see what I saw in APGA,” he said.
On the recent party primaries, Oye said there was a need for true reconciliation and healing.
According to him, there can never be peace without justice, we shall have true reconciliation in APGA.
“I am in full support of the national chairman because he is my son but there shall be justice.
“I have run the race in the party, Church, community and family,” he said.
The thanksgiving attracted members of APGA and friends of the politician.
The Mass was celebrated by Most Revd JonasBenson Okoye, Bishop of
Catholic Diocese of Nnewi.
