Scorecard: Police Rescue Three Kidnap Victims, arrest 57 Suspects In Anambra
The Police Command in Anambra says no fewer than three persons have been rescued from different gangs of kidnappers and 57 suspects have been arrested in the last one month.
CP Nnanna-Oji Ama, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra said this while giving an account of his operational scorecard since he assumed as the Commissioner in the state in August.
Ama briefed the media in the presence of AIG Miller Dantawye,the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 13, Ukpo who was on a working visit to the Command on Friday.
He said the 57 suspects were in connection with kidnapping, armed robbery, cult-related violence, murder and other serious offences.
Still on the gains achieved under his watch, the Commissioner said 18 assorted firearms and 43 rounds of ammunition were recovered while a criminal camp was destroyed which significantly disrupted criminal operations within the State.
He said the Command was determined to continue to deny criminals freedom to operate, adding that Anambra remained hostile to kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism and crime.
“This result is attributable to coordinated intelligence gathering, targeted tactical operations, strategic deployment and sustained pressure on identified criminal networks.
“It was achieved through the collaboration between the Command’s tactical units, Area Commands, Divisional formations and with sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders.
“The Command under my watch will not relent in its offensive against criminal elements, operational priorities will continue to centre on intelligence development, precision deployment, aggressive patrols and rapid response.
“I call on perational commanders and personnel to remain proactive, maintain heightened vigilance and continuously adapt deployment strategies in response to emerging crime patterns and intelligence,” he said.
Ama commended AIG Dantawye for the discipline, professionalism, courage, and effective supervision he provided to the command that led to the operational success.
On his part, Dantawaye reviewed the Command’s security posture, assessed ongoing operations and commended personnel for the results recorded in the fight against violent and organised criminality across Anambra
The AIG placed particular emphasis on intelligence gathering and utilisation, directing personnel to deepen intelligence networks, strengthen community engagement and translate actionable information into timely operational interventions.
“I charge Commanders to intensify operations against kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, drug-related offences and other violent crimes.
“They should also ensure that every operation is conducted professionally, lawfully and with due regard for human rights.
“Personnel must maintain respectful and responsive engagement with members of the public, noting that credible intelligence and community cooperation remain critical force multipliers in modern policing,” he said.
