Three Clubs Indicate To Join Anambra Football Independent League
Three Anambra based amateur football clubs have indicated interest to join the Anambra Football League (AIFL) at the commencement of its sixth season later this year.
The league organisers which announced the applications in a communiqué issued after their General Council Meeting held on June 14 said the clubs were 042 Rivers FC, Ifitedunu and Santa Maria FC, Onitsha and Peace FC, Awka.
The Communiqué made available on Thursday was signed by Rev Fr Obinna Dike, AIFL Chairman, Rev Fr Damian Ogwatta, Vice Chairman, Rev Fr Christian Umeojinnaka, Match Coordinator and Godsent Eriobu, Secretary.
The AIFL said the clubs had been directed to perfect their registration formalities on or before Aug. 31 to be eligible.
“042 Rivers FC, Santa Maria FC and Peace FC have indicated interest to play in the AIFL season, the teams where given until Aug. 31 to conclude their registrations to be eligible to participate in AIFL Season 6,” he stated.
The AIFL commended players, teams and officials for their active participation and good conducts in the ongoing AIFL Season 5 while acknowledging the payment of N10, 000 fine slammed on Ikenna Osueke of Ozalla FC inciting his players.
It also upheld an earlier online decision of ‘no point, no goal’ by the council on the game between Ogene FC and Bubendorf FC which was not honoured by both teams.
“The match coordinator called for continued support for the referees and assured of improved performance for the remaining part of the season.
“AIFL Council commend GP World FA, Mekon United FC and Rangels FA for their feat in the just concluded Anambra Super 8 Tournament.
“In a special way, we congratulate GP World FA for lifting the Super 8 trophy and promotion to Nationwide League.
“A six man committee was inaugurated to oversee to the success of our league final game(s),’ it stated.
AIFL is a privately organised 10- clubs format football league in Anambra under the chairmanship of Rev. Fr Coach Obinna Dike which has ran consistently since inception five years ago.
