Anambra South By-Election: Ikemba Front Rallies Support For APC’s Okwuosa
The Ikemba Front, a frontline political support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced strategic engagement to perfect the victory of the party candidate, Chief Azuka Okwuosa in the Anambra South Senatorial District by-election on Aug. 16.
The bye election is to fill the vacant position created by the death of Sen. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah in the National Assembly.
The meeting which was held at Anedo Hall, Nnewi had members from all the 118 political wards in the seven Local Government Areas of the senatorial district.
The meeting was essentially to prepare the grounds for impactful participation of Ikemba Front in the bye-election which many viewed as a precursor to the Nov. 8 governorship election in which Dr Nicholas Ukachukwu was the flag bearer of APC.
In his speech, Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu, the National Coordinator of Ikemba Front said the Anambra South senatorial bye-election was important to the APC which should retain the seat as it was occupying the seat until the death Ubah in 2024.
Awogu said a victory of APC in the bye-election would ensure that Sen. Ubah’s efforts in repositioning the zone did not go in vain.
“In this hall are organic members of APC from Anambra South Senatorial Zone, all of them have their voter’s card and as members Ikemba Front, are the first line of charge at the wards of the LGAs and in the various polling units in Anambra South,” he said..
Awogu said Okwuosa had been working with Ikemba Front such that he was one of the group while recalling the numerous support the group had received from him.
He said Ikemba Front was famous for its political strength across the state and would work vigorously for the victory of APC in the Senatorial by-election.
According to him, Sir Azuka Okwuosa was with us during our 2024 end of year get-together, has answered all our calls, so, his election is our election and Ikemba Front will reserve no ounce of energy in making sure the senatorial bye-election is won.
“We are the face of the party, we take the biggest risk for the party and we are taking even greater risk to ensure that Aug. 16 and Nov. 8 elections are whole and entire for the APC.
“It is a toga we chose to place on ourselves in furtherance to our avowed decision to connect Anambra State to the centre, so, the Senatorial bye-election is part of the move to the centre,” hr said.
The Coordinators of Ikemba Front from the seven LGAs in the Senatorial zone all spoke about their preparedness to help deliver their Local Governments for Okwuosa.
They assured that the senatorial bye-election was a watershed in the life of the party and no true APC and Ikemba Front member from the zone would rest until victory was achieved.
In his response, Okwuosa said that he will tackle insecurity and negotiate Anambra South senatorial district out of the grip of non-state actors.
The candidate who called for a minute silence in honour of late Sen. Ubah described him as one who rode on an obscured political party to political stardom while promising that he would continue from where stopped.
He promised inclusive development of Anambra South senatorial zone which would give the people of Anambra South a lift from their present state.
He thanked members of Ikemba Front for remaining consistent and for carrying the party shoulder high and formally announced the integration of Ikemba Front into his campaign structure.

Okwuosa was accompanied to the meeting by Hon. Theophilus Nnorom, Sir Azuka Okwuosa’s DG; Dr. Mrs Nkechi Nnoli, Chief Maxwell Ujubuonu, Chief Obi Onwuachu, Hon Amobi Nwafor, Hon Chika Ezenwaka, Hon. Onyeka Owelle Mbaso among others.
