Fear Heightens As Gunmen Abduct Two Revd Sisters In Anambra

 

Two Revd Sisters have been reportedly kidnapped in Anambra, Southeast Nigeria.

 

The Sisters Vincentia Maria Nwankwo and Grace Marictte Okoli were abducted in the evening of Tuesday Jan. 7 along Ufuma road on their way back from their Vocational Association’s meeting at Ogboji.

 

Sr. Vincentia Maria is the Principal of Archbishop Charles Heerey Memorial Model Secondary School Ufuma while Sr. Grace Mariette is a teacher at Immaculata Girls Model Secondary School Nnewi.

 

The Sister of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Onitsha disclosed this in a Statement signed by Sr Sabina Mary Ikeotuonye, the secretary of the congregation on Wednesday.

 

 

“With sadness we write to inform the general public of the Kidnap of our two Sisters.

 

“We commend our Sisters Vincentia Maria and Grace Mariette to the powerful intercession of our Blessed Mother Mary for their speedy release from the hands of their kidnappers.

 

“We solicit your fervent prayers and supplications to God that they may be released as soon as possible and come back to us safe and sound.

 

“Pray also that they may be released unconditionally,” it said.

 

 

The Police Command in Anambra has confirmed the abduction of the Revd Sisters

Police Public Relations Officer,

Anambra State Police Command said a Police-led joint operation was already ongoing for the possible rescue of two catholic nuns.

 

 

“The Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Itam alongside the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations visited the scene for a spot assessment.

 

“The command is already working with some clues for the possible arrest of the suspects and rescue of the victims,” he said.
